21st century live-imaging techniques allow us to explore whole bodies doing what they do while whole and alive. Organs and tissues are seen to have functions we never knew they had and exciting new organs have been discovered. 

We do not have a body and a brain. We are a body-brain system. This is an important distinction. Systems biology is a new way of looking at how bodywork works.
